TAGLINE REGISTRATION

A tagline may be a slogan, phrases or other type of combination words which prove the identity of goods or service. A tagline leaves a different impression on the mind of customers for its recognition. They may be registered as a separate Trademark. For registration a tagline must fulfill the criteria of trademark registration.

The process of tagline registration includes the following steps:

FILING OF APPLICATION

After getting the positive search report we proceed for filing for registration. There are two methods by which applications for tagline can be filed which are accepted by the Registry- Paper filing on prescribed form and in the prescribed manner and E-filing. We provide our service in both manners as required by the client.

EXAMINATION OF APPLICATION

After filing of the application with prescribed rules, the next step is examination. Upon receipt of the application, the Registrar issues an examination report after examining the application. After examining the application publication is made to the Trademark journal. If the Registrar consider the mark as a distinctive mark or after the removal of the objections (if any, raised by the Registrar) he may cause the application to be advertised in Trademark journal.

TRADEMARK OPPOSITION/OBJECTION

If after publication any objections are raised, they need to be removed. If no opposition to the tagline is filed within 90 days from the date of publication, or 120 days if request for extension of time is given to the opponent and opposition is refused, Logo proceeds for the acceptance of Registration.

REGISTRATION CERTIFICATE:

If no objection is raised process of registration may take 15-18 months for registration. After the application for Registration of tagline is accepted by the Registrar, the Registrar shall issue to the applicant a Certificate of Registration under the seal of the Trademark Registry.
