When application for registration of patent is filed it is published on request or after 18 months from the date of filing. After publishing of the patent application it may be opposed or objected on the reasonable grounds. Opposition may be pre grant or post grant.

Notice of opposition must be filed within four months of notification in the Gazette. Extension of one month is available, but must be applied for before expiry of initial four month period. After clearance of objection or opposition process of patent registration will move further.
